ELECTRONIC POLICY AND TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR LODGING ACCOMMODATION

  1. Guest shall electronically complete the form on this portal, submitting their electronic photograph.

  2. Only one Guest is allowed to occupy a single-room chalet at any given time. A maximum of 2 Guests may share a 2-room chalet.

  3. No Guest is allowed to keep a visitor overnight except with the written permission of Management. Such permission will be sough using an email, which will be sent to management@brightlights.com.ng. The email, which will state how long the visitor will stay at the Hostel, will be acknowledged and treated accordingly. Management may approve or deny the request, and communicate accordingly to the Guest. Breach of this condition is punishable by a surcharge as stated in the prevailing Surcharge Schedule shown below, every night the visitor stays at Bright Lights for first offenders and by eviction for repeat offenders.

  4. Guest has no right whatsoever to transfer his/her booking reservation or occupied chalet to any other person whomsoever without the email written consent of Management, whose right it is to deny or accept the other person on such conditions as Management may deem fit.

  5. Guest must pay a refundable security deposit as stated in the current Schedule below before moving into his/her chalet. The security deposit will be used for repair of damages and for other infractions. It must not be applied to lodging fee. At the end of a Guest’s final lease, his/her security deposit, less the amount deducted for repair of damages and for handling charges, shall be refunded by payment of Guest’s credit balance into his/her bank account.

  6. Management is not responsible for repair of plumbing, electrical, carpentry or any other damages inside Guest’s chalet. An Inventory shall be taken at the start and end of the lodging period. Guest shall pay for all repairs in his/her chalet and any such repairs can only be done by artisans approved by Management.

  7. No structural modification of the chalet is permitted except with email written permission from Management. Nails shall not be driven into chalet walls unless permitted, in writing, by Management and all resulting defacements of the wall must be repaired and repainted.

  8. Guest is not allowed to duplicate any BRIGHT LIGHTS keys. If Guest needs to duplicate any key, the duplicate shall be made by Management and charged to Guest.

  9. Under no circumstance is Guest allowed to replace any locks/locksets. In the event that any lock/lockset is changed by Guest, Guest hereby gives Management authority to immediately, without notice, remove said unauthorized lock/lockset at Guest’s expense.

  10. No guest shall install or run any air conditioner without the written consent of Management which said consent shall contain the conditions for installing and running air conditioners. Management restricts installation and use of electrical appliances for safety purposes and to prevent electrical overloading. Use of electric generating plants is absolutely prohibited.

  11.  If Guest desires to cook food, it shall be done in the kitchenette and no Guest shall cook food in commercial quantities. The only energy source permitted for cooking food or boiling water is gas. Use of firewood, kerosene or electricity for cooking is forbidden. Guest shall provide, at all material times, a functional fire extinguisher in his/her chalet.

  12. Guest shall not constitute a nuisance to other Guests or other users of the Guest House and shall control electronic gadgets in his/her chalet such that the sound shall not be heard outside Guest’s room.

  13. Fighting within the Guest House and its environs is absolutely prohibited. Penalty for this offence is a surcharge as contained in the current Surcharge Schedule for a first offender and eviction for a repeat offender.

  14. Drunkenness and drunken behavior are absolutely prohibited. The penalty for breach of this condition is a surcharge as contained in the current Surcharge Schedule for a first offender and eviction for a repeat offender.

  15. Guest is prohibited from smoking Indian hemp or using any such substance prohibited by law within the Guest House and its environs. This prohibition also applies to Guest’s to Guest’s Visitors or friends. Penalty for breach of this Condition is cancellation of Guest’s lease and eviction.

  16. In accordance with Nigerian law and WHO Guidelines, cigarette smoking is prohibited in ALL public spaces, including balconies, etc within Bright Lights premises. Penalty for breach of this Condition is non-renewal of Guest’s lease.

  17. Guest shall not harbor criminals, harlots, cult members, or any person of questionable character.

  18. Guest shall not keep an unlicensed gun, explosives or any items prohibited by law. Guest is not allowed to store any dangerous material (e.g. inflammable substances) inside or around his/her chalet. The penalty for breach of this rule is immediate cancellation of Guest’s contract and eviction.

  19. Management reserves the right at any time (without any restriction) to open the chalet, in the presence of Guest, for inspection or verification of the condition of the chalet.

  20. Vehicles and valuables are parked and kept at Guest’s risk. Management is not obliged to provide parking space for Guests’ vehicles. Where Guest vehicle parks in Bright Lights premises without the permission of Management, Management reserves the right to remove such vehicle or valuable without being accountable to Guest for any damages.

  21. Guest must abide strictly with security arrangements put in place by Management. Guest’s visitors may be screened by the Security Guard before they are allowed entrance.

  22. The minimum duration for an initial lease is twelve months. Any initial lease of less than twelve months attracts a surcharge as contained in the current Surcharge Schedule.

  23. The lease starts on the day Bright Lights receives Guest’s lodging payment.

  24. Two days after expiration of any lease, Management shall lock out the Guest or remove his/her belongings (without being accountable to Guest for any damages or losses) unless he/she makes a further deposit to cover a further lodging period. Late renewal attracts a surcharge as contained in the current Surcharge Schedule.

  25. Management reserves the right to seize or impound any property of a defaulting Guest and keep same as security for unpaid bills or lodging fee and also reserves the right to sell such property to offset such unpaid bills or lodging fee without being accountable to Guest for any losses suffered in exercise of such right by Management.

  27. If, for any reason whatsoever, Guest wishes to discontinue lodging before the expiration of the term paid for, Management is not obliged to make any refund for unexpired period. However, Management may out of goodwill, make a refund for the unexpired period, less an surcharge as contained in the current Surcharge Schedule as service charge; such refund shall be made after the chalet has been taken up by a new Guest. In such cases, unexpired period starts counting after the chalet has been given out to another Guest. The departing Guest may expedite the refund process by providing a new Guest acceptable to Management.

  28. Bright Lights gates are locked at 11 pm and reopened at 6 am the following morning. Neither Bright Lights gateman nor anyone else is permitted to open the gates between 11 pm and 6 am.

  29. No Guest shall organize or hold any group activity (party, get-together or meeting) within Bright Lights’ premises without written permission by Management.

  30. Guests are fully responsible for payment of electricity bills as shown on their pre-paid meters.

  31. Guest is required to give one month notice of intention to renew or terminate his/her residence at Bright Lights. Where such notice is not given Management shall assume that Guest is renewing unless Management chooses to terminate that Guest’s stay. Guest who wishes to renew his/her stay must apply through his/her Dashboard electronically, and renew the consent of this Policy, Terms and Conditions before making a new lodging deposit to cover the period of his/her extension. Payment must be received by Bright Lights not later than two days after the expiry of the old lodging period.

  32. Any breach by Guest of any or part of the conditions herein contained shall entitle Management to check out the Guest immediately by removing his/her personal belongings from the chalet without being accountable to Guest for any losses or damages occasioned in respect thereof, and without any liability to refund the unexpired lodging fee paid by Guest.

  33. The Conditions set out above are subject to review from time to time. All changes to these Conditions shall be communicated to Guests in advance and shall apply to contracts signed after the date of the changes.
